Common Divinity
"These two words, so divided by definition, when placed side by side, perfectly invoke the essence of what these pictures hope to realize. As separate images they interpret a fragment of reality imbued with imminent mystery, poised on the edge of chaos. As a collection they demonstrate that the everyday and the sublime are inexorably unified."This series of images depicts an opening up to a world of fantasy married to my sterile everyday life. That unique moment, where these two worlds uniquely harmonize, was what I was most interested in capturing, the miraculous and the mundane. Photography was the tool that allowed me to visually demonstrate and prove to myself that these two worlds can exist in the same moment and more importantly, in balance. I frequently used my iPhone as a tool to capture this experience because there was no break in consciousness or feeling of this union, from the time I felt to the time I captured. It felt like a pure depiction of my experience. A note to the viewer: none of the images were staged. I wanted these discoveries to be truthful and to serve as evidence for others and for myself what harmony looks like to me in our modern world.
